Healing doesn't always have to rely on words.

I'm Elizabeth Magazzeni-Rinehart, a licensed professional counselor, board-certified art therapist, and EMDR Certified Therapist. With over two decades in mental health, I help children, adolescents, and adults heal from trauma, ease anxiety, and find their footing again, using approaches that reach beyond talking.

At the heart of my practice

Two ways in when words run out.

EMDR and art therapy each reach experiences that conversation alone often can't. Many of my clients use both, and I weave in other proven approaches as each person needs them.

EMDR therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps the brain finish processing memories that got stuck, so they lose their emotional charge. It follows a structured, well-researched eight-phase approach. We build safety and coping skills first, and you never have to retell every detail of what happened for it to help.

How EMDR sessions work

Art therapy

Some experiences live below language, in the body, in images and gestures. Drawing, painting and other simple materials give them a way out that doesn't depend on finding the right words first. It works for young children and adults alike, and no art experience or talent is needed.

What art therapy looks like

Who I see

For children of all ages, including the ones who grew up.

Play is the first language any of us learned. Long before we had words, we had crayons, blocks, and make-believe, and that language never really leaves us. Whether you're five and full of big feelings or fifty and finally ready to be heard, there's room here to paint, build, play, and heal.

I work with children ages 5 and up, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Sessions are shaped to each age and stage, from play-based work with young children to creative, expressive approaches for teens and adults.

Areas of focus

What people come to me for.

You don't need to know which therapy you want. Start with what you're going through, and we'll find the right fit together.

  • Anxiety & panic

Constant worry, panic attacks, racing or intrusive thoughts, and a nervous system that won't settle.

  • Depression & mood

Low mood, loss of motivation, emotional ups and downs, and feeling stuck in patterns you can't seem to shift.

  • Trauma & PTSD

Including complex PTSD. Single events, childhood experiences, or long stretches of stress your mind and body haven't finished processing.

  • Grief & loss

The death of someone close, the end of a relationship, or losses that others may not see.

  • ADHD & neurodivergence

Support that works with how your brain works, not against it. I focus mainly on ADHD and also work with people on the autism spectrum.

  • Relationships, self-esteem & emotions

Emotional overwhelm, trouble regulating big feelings, relationship difficulties, and a harsh inner critic.

My approach

Not one-size-fits-all.

In our first sessions, I get to know who you are and what you're carrying. Then I bring in what fits, whether that's EMDR, art-based work, parts work, or practical skills for everyday life. If you come asking for EMDR, you'll get it, along with everything else that helps it work.

You already understand your story. EMDR and art-based work give you a way to move it, rather than talking around it one more time.

Elizabeth, on why talking alone isn't always enough

The consultation button opens a pre-written email. Share only the basics, never personal health details.

  2. Free 15-minute call

We talk briefly about what's bringing you in, scheduling, and fees, so you can decide whether we're a good fit.

  3. First telehealth session

If we move forward, you'll receive intake paperwork and a secure video link before your first appointment.

All questions

Do I need "real" trauma for EMDR to help?

No. EMDR is best known for trauma, but it can also help with smaller, cumulative experiences that still shape how you think and react today, as well as anxiety and specific fears.

I'm not artistic. Can I still do art therapy?

Yes. Art therapy isn’t about skill or a finished product. It’s a way to reach and work through experiences that are hard to get at through conversation alone. That’s true for young children and adults alike.

Are sessions in person or online?

All sessions are by secure telehealth video. I’m licensed throughout Pennsylvania, so I can see anyone who is located in Pennsylvania at the time of each session.

Do you work with children?

Yes. I work with children (ages 5 and up), adolescents, adults, and older adults, and I welcome anyone drawn to play-based and creative approaches. For children and younger teens, a parent or guardian reaches out first, and we’ll talk about how sessions will work for your family.

Next step

Book a free 15‑minute consultation.

A short phone call to talk through what's bringing you or your child to therapy and whether we're a good fit. No pressure and no commitment.
